The Fort was closed in the mid-1990s.
It was sold for $575,000 in June of 2012
to become a movie production studio.

    I want to thank you so much for doing this blog. Being able to see the photos and some of the paperwork from your Dad has given me more insight into my own father's experiences during WWII. He was the first sergeant of an ordinance company and seems to have been traveling close by to your father - I found your blog while researching Nordhausen. They were probably there on about the same day.....reading your Dad's letters was so very valuable to me. Thanks again..
